May Weather Brings Slime Mold to Lawns

— Written By

Slime mold on turf can appear quickly. The mold looks darker from a distance. It can be removed by brushing, mowing, or washing. The mold does not damage the grass but is unsightly and may cause leaf blades to turn yellow. May, June, and July are months when most likely present depending on weather. If appearance is a problem it can be treated with the fungicide mancozeb (Fore).
