Local Farmers Continue to Grow and Sell Food!

— Written By

Local farmers are working hard to adapt selling methods of local products while ensuring customers health and safety.

With the Stay at Home order by the Governor, one of the reasons to leave home is to purchase food. Food and Agriculture are Essential! Farmers grow and sell food! Some farmers locally also make and sell soap!!! Go and purchase plants as well to start your own gardens or do some landscaping while at home.

Please remember local farmers when shopping for food. The farmers have worked hard to produce products and need support in this time as well.

Many farmers are making safety changes. Some practices are extra cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting. A few may stop recycling containers or using cardboard. Also, they are changing selling procedures for customers to practice social distancing at farm stands and U-Pick farms. Many growers are increasing online ordering and pick up or delivery methods. A few products can even be mailed to you!

Contact Rockingham County farmers directly or Kathryn Holmes, North Carolina Cooperative Extension of Rockingham County Agricultural Agent, kathryn_holmes@ncsu.edu for a self- reported list of farmers who are presently selling local products.
